Now is the time I begin preparing for the Awakening 21 day fast. My holiday eating is behind me (ok, no pun intended there), and I am eager to start the new year off right. 2010 is not just the start of a new year, but of a new decade. These last 10 years passed so quickly, bringing so much change along the way. I definitely want to be spiritually, mentally, and physically prepared for all that lies ahead.
That’s why I LOVE that this year’s theme is AWAKENING: Total life challenge! In case you haven’t noticed, we are not only spiritual beings! Our spirit is closely knit to our soul (mind, will, and emotions). And we have one body with which to walk out our God-given purpose on this earth. Let’s prepare to squeeze every ounce of potential out of the upcoming 21 days of prayer and fasting. I truly believe that the spiritual work that God does in us will (and should, actually) have an impact on us in our soul and bodies as well.
To find out more about AWAKENING, you can visit the website at www.awake21.org. Start preparing now to have the best possible experience from January 10-30.

Kerri:
I’ve been thinking about fasting going into this new year of 2010.
Many of us will be leaving old things (that aren’t working for us anymore) behind us, and pressing into, or stepping into some “new” areas and things that God wants for us in the New Year.
What a better way to start the new year off right, than to prepare our body to prosper and be in the best of health that it can be!!
Also what a way to prepare ourself for the “possibilities” and “opportunities that await us ahead!!!
Fasting has a way of “shutting off the things of this world” that come to “distract” our focus away from the “purpose” that God wants us to pursue.
As we “fast & pray in the Holy Spirit”, we can hear God more “clearly”, be “led by the Spirit” more “acuratly”, “obey God” easier, get His “wisdom” (needed for difficult problems, get a spiritual “vision” or “dream”, “overcome” the battle of the mind (soul), and get our soul to “tap into our spirit man to “understanding” the scriptures.
“Fasting with prayer” can “set us free” from fears, bondages, and hinderances that keep us captvie.
It taps us into the power of “the Holy Spirit – & gives us the “boldness” to go out into the world and give people “hope”, (a word of “exhortation”, “comfort” and “love”), & pray for their healing.
Fasting and prayer destroys the works of the enemy, and brings “life” to dead things and people.
I’d like to do a partial fast with water/juice, and vegies to start off the new year right.
Are beans a vegie, or a meat substitute?
Got any suggestions?
Happy New Year favored one!!!
