Just writing a little reminder that SISTERHOOD MORNINGS are starting back up this Wednesday, February 15 at our Midtown and Orange Park locations.

This semester we are embarking on a study of the book of Proverbs entitled The House That Wisdom Built. Proverbs 9:1-4 gives us a little peek into how and why Wisdom builds her house. It says:

Wisdom has built her house;
she has hewn out its seven pillars.
She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;
she has also set her table.
She has sent out her maids, and she calls
from the highest point of the city.
“Let all who are simple come in here!” she says to those who lack judgment.
“Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed.
Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.

There are varying ideas to what the seven pillars mentioned above might be, but concrete meaning has never been ascribed to them by Bible scholars. What we do know is that seven, in the Bible is a number that represents perfection, completion and fullness. If you think you don’t have the wisdom needed to build such a house, don’t worry – you are exactly the kind of person Lady Wisdom is inviting to the table in this passage. No matter your starting point, you can be sure that the house built by wisdom is something we can confidently aim for as we walk in the power and grace of God.
